Kari Vastbinder, RN
Just seeing the title behind my name is mind boggling. Right now I have to sign my title as SRN (student RN) in the hospital setting. It will be so nice to drop the "s". I am sooooo close to finishing. I am already half way through this quarter (5 more weeks left- Jun 9th is my last day) and doing very well. This week the program has already asked me for my 5th quarter clinical rotation preference for summer.
My choices...
1) t/w at ALVA -VA hospital for both long term care rotation and mental health rotation - 5 weeks total
2) m/th at Western State Hospital (ok that should be interesting lol a real loony bin!!! ok I should be more respectful :) ) for mental health and then a condensed rotation at Rainier Vista for LTC for 2 weeks. - 4 weeks longs.
Of course I picked the condensed rotation so I hope I get it!!! 4 weeks long seems worth one week of 4 days of clinical.
After this I am DONE DONE DONE!!! I go onto preceptorship in fall where I am going to request a pediatrics rotation. Hopefully I get it. I am so not into working with adults in the hospital AND who wants to get a rotation where I have a 6-8 patient per nurse ratio. Not I. lol Pediatrics is a specialty so I won't have the patient load.
Anyway, had to share in my excitement. Today all the nursing students were talking about it and extremely excited it's almost finally over. It's been a LONG 2 years.
