Ragnar Relay race... 104 days until....torture. :)

Well its been so frustrating that I have been running 4 days a week for 5 weeks now and no weight has dropped off me. Im so frustrated. So what I decided to do is blog my preparation journey to the overnight 184 mile 12 person team relay race. Here is the link to the race... http://www.ragnarrelay.com/northwestpassage/index.php . I am person number 12 of the race so I only have to do a total of 15.2 miles in 3 different segments. My first segment is a 6.7 mile hard and I finish off the race for the team.

So.. I have been doing the novice training schedule:

I am about 8 weeks ahead of schedule because I did not start at the beginning and started earlier then the beginning of march. I am on May 23th week and adlibed the saturday run to include a 70 min run today instead of 2 20 min runs. It was a killer today. I am sore, I am cranky, I am all the above. It hard running the long distances with my hip and plantar fasciitis slightly bothering me.

What I learned today through my run is... DONT go 50 minutes out if you dont want to be out for 2 hours and have to walk 2 miles back. lol. I was so determine to hit the 4 mile out mark (yes I went very slow lol) that I didn't think about how long it would take me to get back lol. Should have only done half way and turned around. Note to self... only go half way Kari.. especially on the long runs. lol.. Anyways.. I am very proud of myself. I ran the whole distance without stopping keeping my heart rate between 150-160 bpm the whole time.

Now I have to stop eating like a big ol cow. lol. Being Kari homemaker now (since I am not in school) has given me more time to cook delicious treats for the kids each day plus full course meals. Not a good combo when I am trying to also get down in weight for the race.

Having said that, I will diary my journey to a extremely fit Kari and the success and failures of my runs. Of course I will also just write about mundane Kari thoughts to that tend to pop into my head alot lol. Anyways... off to watching 24. Started watching from season 1. :) Bye for now.
