Politics

politics

I have to admit I am an avid Republic at heart.  I can't quite grasp around the concepts of the Democratic party.   Maybe it's because I was raised in the church and have had certain values instilled in me that causes me to lean towards the republican party.

This year I don't know if I am even going to vote.  Both candidates are pathetic if you ask me.   I can't even entertain the fact of John McCain being the president and then Obama, I don't know if I like him or not, he is to much of a zealot in my book.

I would have definitely voted for Mitt Romney if he had become the candidate.  Not because he is a Mormon but because I like what he did with his company Bain and how he pulled companies out of hostal takeovers and bankruptcy.   That is what this countries needs, not some wrinkled old man and a zealot like obama.

Hey it may be unpatriotic but I probably will not vote this year.  Sorry, the candidates both stink!

That was totally set up

AL this week was a total set up.  They hammered David Cook and praised David A. on Tuesday because they knew that If they created controversy David C. would get votes.   That was pathetic.  They couldn't let David A. win because he was slated to win.  Pathetic!  Not that I am to sad the way it turned out because  I liked them both.   I always said David C. had more of a career ahead of him then David A.  I still think someone will still pick up David A.   I think I read somewhere that he has already done a few commercials.  :)

I am so bummed....

frown

I just got this notice today from Pacific Lutheran University:

Thank you for your interest in the nursing program at Pacific Lutheran University; we appreciate your efforts in submitting an application for this admission cycle. The School of Nursing Recruitment, Admission and Progression (RAP) Committee reviewed your application for admission to the baccalaureate nursing program. We regretfully inform you that you have not been admitted to the nursing program (2008-09).

I am so bummed. I thought for sure I was going to get in. They must have had some awesome nursing application. I am not giving up. It's just my first line of NO's before I get that one yes. Actually if I did not get into this university the chances of me getting into the other programs are slim because they accepted more people then the rest of the programs. The other programs I have applied to only accept 20-30 people a year. :(

I wish I had finished the nursing degree I started back in 2001 before I moved to Seattle. I was doing so good in the program too. I was #5 out of 80 people and there was only 6 A's total that year in the program and I was #5 grade wise.

I probably realistically should have finished school when James and I got married before I had the kids. I should have listened to my Patriarchal Blessing I got when I was 18. It actually told me that I would be going to school and that I would be the best in my field. It also said that I NEED to get a degree (don't know why my P.B.  was so adamant about me getting a degree but it was). Sad Part is it actually said in bold print, these exact words of "DO NOT WASTE TIME". Now I know why it was telling me this. It is really hard being in school with kids and now it's even harder to get accepted to these programs because I have no experience because I have been a stay at home mom for 12 years, not that it hasn't been rewarding.

I am not giving up, Kari never gives up. I already shot and email off to the school of Nursing to see if by any chance I could get on the waiting list.

I know being a Nursing is what I am suppose to do besides being a mom (that is #1 for me), I can feel it in my bones. I might have to take the long route in getting it....CNA....LPN...RN etc but I am going to do it.  Which really sucks considering I already have 112 credits hours.  UHMMMMM. I am still bummed. I have not been killing myself in this Dang Microbiology class to give up, NO Way!!! :)

Do we help or do we sit by and watch.....

idy by

I figure I might as well bring in some controversy into my blog. Hey why not. :)

In my microbiology class we have to do case studies and a powerpoint presentation on the case study with a group of people. Afterwards a discussion question is asked of every student to answer. The case study for this week was TB, what it is, how is spreads, etc. The discussion question that we needed to answer was if we think TB could become a Pandemic and if the United states should help impoverished nations control their TB outbreaks and if we are obligated to do so.

Of course being the person I am I said yes, that we have a moral and fundamental obligation to to help other who don't have the means to  help themselves medically because of their conditions.

Other people answered the same, but some oh my, said we should not help and to let them all die because they are going to die anyway's and that we need to just worry about our own country. I can't believe the selfishness I hear in most of the posters. It was quite sickening.

Yes I do understand we do have problems of our own in this blessed country, but come on, our suffering are pail in comparison to less fortunate countries. On top of it you don't think that with the day and age of travel, and being able to spread disease more then ever, that we don't have a medical and moral obligate to help other countries at least with education and medical supplies. TB right now is mostly curable, there are starting to be resistant strains out there and the bugger is mutating.

So basically half the students are saying is  it all about ME, MYSELF and I and screw everyone else. It kills me how liberal people have become.

The sad part is with that type of mentality in the end, I feel that what goes around comes around because eventually we as a nation are going to need outside help and I wouldn't doubt it if some people will say "they don't need our help, let's think of ourselves and not worry about them". So the comments hit a raw nerve with me, does it you?

On the same topic, have you seen the show what would you do is a show that films, with a hidden camera, what people would do in a certain situations. It is really surprising that people will actually sit by while things big happen around them and won't get involved. Women more likely then men will get involved but still most will not, even if a man is pushing a women around (was one of the set up hidden cameras experiment, luckily it was all actors and actresses). Very sad!!!

So you know how I feel about the issue!  ME and my opinions.  :)

Ouch, a plant you don't want to mess with.....

stinging nettle

Ok so this is the plant from H E double hockey stick!. Can you figure out what it is....It's Stinging Nettle and I am feeling the pain from it right now....YES, YES. The moment I dived into it I immediate felt that pain, let me tell you. My arms, around my ankles, neck and a few spots on my legs are all rashed up because of this seemingly innocent-looking plant.

So how did this happen....

If you read the post that James wrote you will see that he complains about the OH SO many things that he has to do, that he perceives I don't do right. Well did he forget to mention that his lovely wife, goes out with this dear husband of her's to cut wood in our forest. Yes, oh, Yes. Isn't that suppose to be a "MAN" thing?!!!! :) (can you tell I am a little annoyed about his post :) )

Well, little Miss Kari, helped James cut wood, load the wood on the tractor, drove the tractor to house, dumped it 4 times over then stacked the dang wood in the garage. Mind you, I also mowed the 3 acres of grass in the yard afterwards. While loading the wood, I happened upon a grove of stinging nettle (James must be immune to it because he was standing in it too and it did not bother him)and have been in pain ever since.

So here ends the tale of the Stinging Nettle giving me a HUGE Rash and feeling unappreciated. Hey, at least I WILL do a "Man's Job" and have the stings to prove it! :)

NO MORE TAXES.....

taxes

Taxes...just the word alone sends shivers down most peoples spines. Taxes for this and taxes for that. We end up paying more taxes then we all would like too. Usually I am very happy at tax time because we get a substantial amount of Dough back, but not this year with buying a new house and not selling our house in Covington. I ended having to pay some money this year. Not a lot, but considering I get back a lot each year, it still hurt! AHHHHHH! I waited to the last possible minute to file because of it.

And then to top it all off, at the end of the Turbotax filing it tells you if you are going to get that 1 time rebate back and it told me we are NOT getting that one time rebate this year because James made to much. :( Considering we had 5 kids and all the other stuff associated with having 3 homes (1 of which my renters are not being very good payers on, mind you), all the other expenses associated w/ life, you would think they would have taken it on the Adjusted Gross Income, but NOOOOOO they have to calculate it according to your Gross. The sad part was part of our Gross was hyped up because of buying the house and having to cash some assets out that went directly to our house closing. Ok so I will stop complaining, because we are blessed. Just so frustrated that's all. :)
