You've been the 4.0 GPA student and then POOF..you are put in your place in 1 quarter!!! lol. It seems this is just not happening to me but all the 4th quarter students who are in school with me. Students who go from a 4.0 GPA to all of a sudden going to a low 80's high 70's test scores. We all realize we have a long way to go to pass the N-CLEX nursing exam at the end. I wondered why last quarter 4th quarter students decided to start a N-clex study group I never attended because they were on sunday. I am seeing 60 student in "crap" mode this quarter. AND it doesnt get any easier. The now 5th quarter students are not doing any better. OH well just means we all to step up our game and really focus in now that year 1 is up and now we are doing advanced stuff.
On Wednesday my student team did a MI (heart attack) Simulation were we had to save the dummy. If we where out in the real nursing world we would have not only mamed the patient but KILLED the patient lol. "This is the whole point" the instructor said. I am thinking to myself uhmmm not good. We gave some morphine to the patient with a blood pressure under 100 systolic, the heparin drip was titrating way to high at 100 ml/hr and we never caught it. He had a huge hematoma on his leg that was bleeding and we just thought it was bandages that had been reenforced. Of course the dummy complained of numbness and tingling in that leg lol. A classic sign of hematoma. Our group of 5 sat there after sayiing O M G are we cut out for this. The one thing we did get right is to not to administer nitrogylcerin because his BP was so low lol.... YAY for us!!! WE scored. :) Anyways this quarter is showing us that we are NOT ready to take the NCLEX. It is scaring the crap out of everyone including me. We have been thrown in waste deep and expected to be "nurses" now.
Lets see what else is going on...
Football season is almost over for TJ. He hurt himself the first game so its been a slow coming back for him. Next year will be better.
Raes cheer is almost over!!! FINALLY. Its been a long season. She has had so much homework this year that cheer is interfering with her getting it done at a decent hour. We have had many nights of her staying up until 11 pm to get it all done. I finally decided that cheer was out that day if she had to much homework. She just cant do it all.
CJ and AJ are my little readers. I have seen such an improvement this year in their reading abilities I am so very proud of them both.
EJ started seminary this year and what a difference I have seen in him. Spiritual things really do change people. He is excited about doing his scripture masteries and he has been reading without me asking on his own every night. It amazing to see the faith at such a young age. I am proud of him.
Let see what else is going on...

James and I both have lost a good amount of weight. I think I am at 16, james at 10. Overall the whole program have lost 200 lbs in 4 weeks. WOOT. I am proud of everyone who is doing it. It is making a difference in people!! I keep hearing the chatter of the challenge all over maple valley lol. YAY!! Next challenge starts in January if anyone is interest.
