*****Hyperlink to the gospel principles book fixed :)
Today there was an announcement at church that we will take a new approach, or sibatical from the "norm" lessons. Over the last few years we have been studying the teachings of the different prophets of the church. But the Church recently made a huge change in what we will be studying for the next few year. Check out the recent article in the Church magazine, the Ensign titled, "The New Gospel Principles Manual" (Click to go to hyperlink)..A good move. I think going back to basic principles is soooo very important. Sometimes we lose sight of what is really important like basic things such as knowing that our Heavenly Father exists to prayer and the atonement of Jesus Christ. Simple but important things. Going back to the basics helps hone into what we really trully believe and why. This year we are studying the gospel principle book (click "gospel principle" for hyperlink). Check it out.
Now onto what todays lesson was on. It was on our Heavenly Father. Alma, a Book of Mormon prophets wrote, "All things denote there is a God, yea, even the earth, and all things are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, and also all the planets that moved which move in regular form do witness their is a Supreme Creator" (Alma 30:44). We can look up in the sky at night and have an idea of what Alma meant. There are millions of stars and planets, all in perfect order. They did not get there by chance. We can see the work of God in the heavens and on the earth. The many beautiful plants, animals, moutains, rivers, clouds that bring us rain and snow- all these testify to us that there is a God. (Gospel Principles, chapter 1).
A very basic but extremely important first lesson of the year. I am excited for this the direction the Prophet and church has decided to take all of us. Back to basics. :) Very cool. :)
Anyways thats is my spiritual thought of today. If i have grammar errors I will proofread in morning. :)
