I had an experience today on the idea of paying it forward. As much as life as been hard, I still have been extremely blessed. My family, my faith, my love of life, everything. Earlier today after I got done at the gym with my personal trainer I was stopped at a gas station to put gas in my car. A man came up to me and asked for 5 dollars for gas for his car. At first I said no as I always do thinking, " I hate people asking me for handouts".
Then as I sat in the car waiting for my gas to fill I had a overwhelming feeling to give this young man money for his car. First I was going to give $5 to him to help but then something came over to me to fill up his whole tank full of gas. I went over to him and told this young man to bring his car over here and I would fill it up for him. He teared up as I did this for him. 37 bucks later, I saw a man and his friend overjoyed with thankfulness, they shook my hand and told me they would pay it forward for my kindness.
They left with a big smile on their face and waved goodbye. 37 bucks is nothing in comparision to how I felt at that moment. I felt inspiration and I try to act on that inspiration as much as possible. We are asked to have charity towards our fellow man, to love unconditionally, and give freely. Charity never Faileth...
A big lesson... stop and reallly listen to your heart and always follow what it tells you to do... love others, give freely of yourself and alway remember that there are people out their that really do need the love you give them. :)

kari-what a great example! thanks for sharing this story. we get so caught up in not wanting to "enable" people in their bad choices that we forget that they are children of God just like us. I am sure Jesus would help a lot more than I usually do! :) I hope you are having a great summer--don't get TOO busy (ya right!)
