One of the bravest man I have known is Zach D. When I first met Zach he was 10 years old (James has know him from birth). James use to teach him when he was a squirmy little guy at church. :) I watched this boy grow. He has grown up to be a spiritual giant. The last part of his Mormon mission he started getting sick and they found a huge tumor. He has lived his life like his mission and I am so honor to know him. He recently was in the hospital and now is home. He is not doing well and could pass anytime at this point. Please pray for him and his family that they may get through this life challenge in one piece. We love you Zach. Please watch his video...
What measures a Man....
Here is the letters that was posted on facebooks:
Zach is home from the hospital, but his health is not improving. He could pass away anytime. However, he is still full of smiles, courage, and is glad to be spending the time he has left surrounded by family and friends.
To most cancer patients, returning to health and being called a "cancer survivor" is the highest honor. But a special honor and respect goes to those who do not tarry with us in mortality. Zach's someone I'll be telling my grandkids about!
-------
Life is all too short. But how many of us really live?
How many of us can say we've thanked every person that means something to us...
How many of us cherish small little blessings and greet it like it was a million bucks?
How many of us can look at an obstacle and instead of saying "why me?"---say bring it on---let's get 'er done!
These are the lessons Zach DeRidder teaches us.
We've watched him dealing with difficulties that would shatter others...but he rallies and he believes and he makes you believe in strength. True strength. You can train hard and get physical strength...join a gym, buy some fancy equiptment and build up to be physically strong. But to be the kind of strong Zach is takes more than that. It takes a person who never quits and believes and trusts his own life purpose...no matter the turns in the road.
He is no longer on his bike...or running or swimming. A hospital bed might seem like the cruelest fate for someone once so physically strong. But he views even this time as a chance to teach others. He is a tireless cancer advocate who shares with his doctors what support has meant to him. Some people say "I want to give back" but who really thinks about giving back when they're still in need of many miracles themselves. Zach is giving back now...and he is giving back with whatever time he has.
He is a gift...a hero...and a true champion--- on the bike or not.
KEEP YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS ON ZACH at this very difficult time.
Zach puts life into perspective......
