Moments in our lives

History is the journey into our past.  In the past, we often love, hope, and dream of the future.    Over the years, my journals is the connection to my past.   Without these journals, intricate details of my life would only be spoken instead of written.   Eternal truths are learned from the written word, ideas that never can be lost.

Looking back through the journals of my life, many experiences has shape whom I am today and who I want to become.   I loved journaling from the beginning.   My first entry is a simple one.   Back on October 1st, 1984, I am 10 yrs old.   The language is simple, but it allows for the future reader to understand my thoughts during my 10th year.   As life progresses, my journal also follows suit.   As teenage years graces my presence,  I am a young lady not sure where I fit into society.  Am I loved?  Will boys love me?   Will my dreams and passions come true?   There are many questions!

Moving into adulthood, my journaling takes a new dimension, a glimpse into some profound moments still encrusted in my mind and heart today.    As I read my history, I notice a piece of paper folded in quarters.   I open it and see a calendar with a big "I love you" on it from a child named Ben.   There are memories behind this little act of kindness from a 8 year old boy.  The date on the Calendar is March 1993.   For a semester, a friend and I walked 2 miles everyday to monitor children during recess at a local school.  We gain so much more then a paycheck those months.   The children adore us.  The children love the attention we freely offer them.   We love the feeling we get by helping these children feel loved.  I feel blessed!

I am glad as a small child my will to journal existed.   It has been a refuge when I need to reflect on past events and learn something new.  It has been my connection.
