Date Night with the Powell's...

other 1 028

James and I went out with the Powell's on Saturday night. We took ourselves out to a great Mexican restaurant in our little town while EJ did a great job of being the babysitter back home. Not only did we celebrate Steve's birthday but James and I celebrated not having to pay a babysitter. :) When we came home, EJ had the whole downstairs cleaned up, the kids in order with a big smile on his face. What a great Kid!!! I am lucky to have such a good boy.

Speaking of friendships. What constitutes a good friend? I have been contemplating this question the last few days and wonder if I am a good friend to my own friends? Do I love them no matter what they do or say? Do I give back what my friends give me or do I take from all my friends? Am I trying to hard to be friends with someone who doesn't want my friendship? Am I trying to hard to truly help another friend when they obviously don't care?

I have had friends in the past that I considered a good friend, and they did not obviously feel the same about me. I would try my darn hardest to make them feel loved, appreciated and truly cared about them. The thing I learned is you can't force friendships. It's better to step back, evaluate if a person is really your friend and detach. Why waste time, like I did, worrying about a friend that obviously could care less that I truly cared about them. We just can't let things like this get us down when we can't change them. :)

I have to say I am so blessed with having true friends like the Powell's. These two people would do anything for our family, they would do anything for anyone they know. I just want to say thanks to the Powell's for there true friendship. They are not the only ones that have been really good friends with us so Thank you all to all my good friends that love us regardless! You all inspire me to try to be a good friend.
