Today is EJ's 12th birthday. I can't believe he is already 12. The years have gone by so fast. We celebrated his birthday on Saturday with our family. He got a Lacrosse bag and an expansion pack for his World of Warcraft game that he loves to play, some money and a trip with Dad to Las Vegas. James had to take a business trip today to Las Vegas for a conference he is speaking at so we planned it so that EJ can go along with him as a father/son retreat. EJ was so excited about going on a plane and being with dad. I think this will be our new tradition when the kids turn 12, as in the LDS church, 12 is a big year, almost a right of passage. This is when they get the priesthood (for the boys) and start YM/YW. I can't believe EJ will be one of the boys up front passing sacrament. James will take the boys on the retreat and I will take Rae when she turns 12. EJ and Dad are planning on see a few shows will in Vegas. EJ wants to see the BLUE MAN GROUP or a magic show. We will see what James takes him too. HE is so excited. As soon as I get some pictures back from the trip I will post an entry about it and let EJ write the post. :)
EJ has such a great personality. Anyone that comes around him instantly likes him. He is a responsible and loving boy. He absolutely loves Gaming, and plays with Uncle Ian (my 21 yr old brother) online in World of Warcraft. He is a great Lacrosse, Football, and Soccer player, where Lacrosse seems to be his sport of choice, he is a starter on their team. EJ is a smartie pants and is an A student and hardly tries (just like James). He has been a joy to have in our family and I wanted to tell him I love him very much and I am proud of him.
We are so glad that our EJ is with us today. He is another miracle child in our home. A few years back our EJ was seriously sick. His appendix ruptured when he just barely turned 5. We thought at the time that he just had a stomach flu. 5 days of EJ contantly throwing up, diahrrea and a very high fever we knew there was a problem. We took him to the doctor and was sent to the hospital because he was so dehydrated. They did tons of test and did not find anything. He was sent home on Monday and by Tuesday his fever had spiked again to 105 degrees and he was so sick. Poor kid. We then took him back to the doctors and they finally did a Cat scan on him to find 3 grapefruit size abscess in his stomach and tons of tiny ones. We rushed up to the hospital in Rochester where we where living at the time and he had drainage bags put into those abscess to drain them and had a PIC line put in for all the medications he needed as his body was so infected. He spent a few weeks in the hospital while James and I took turns driving an hour one way to stay with him overnight. He then was sent home for 6 weeks with a 6 wks prescription of Augmentin. When the infection was under control, we went back up to Strong Hospital childrens center and he had his Appendix removed. They could not remove it the first time he was in the hospital because they where worried about about rupturing his abscesses in his body as one was right in his bowels. So they cleared the infection first and then removed his appendix. Poor EJ was in an out of the hospital all summer long. He was being watch over I can tell you that because when we showed up at the hospital in which he was treated at the doctor told us he was a miracle child that usually by 10 day after an appendix burst a child usually is not alive and that EJ had a "Rock Kickin" immune system. It was a very scary experience knowing that your child almost died. We have been truly bless with this boy and I know he was save for a reason.
I wish I had the picture of him on a little tricycle with the IV pole while he was at the hospital. He would ride this little bike as fast as he can down the corridors of the childrens hospital, being sick did not stop EJ. :) I need to convert some of the pictures to digital form as he was born back when Digital was not even a option. I have so many pictures of EJ as a baby too that I need scan in or convert.
Here are some pictures of EJ that I could find. Most are when he was older as he was born in the age of NO Digital Cameras. Enjoy.....

Here are some of his favorite songs right now, I put them in my playlist for a few days for EJ, Heres to you EJ, Happy Birthday
Take you there
